Week of February 25th

PTA’s 5th Family Science Night is this Thursday. I am encouraging everyone to attend. There are always many interesting and fun activities. From 6:30-7:30 is the activities session, and from 7:30-8:30 we will be entertained by the Blazing Science Show. All students that attend will earn a Homework Pass Certificate.

Math News
This week the students will once again be receiving FCAT Benchmark homework. These assignments are individualized based on items that the students missed on the December Math Benchmark tests. Please help your child as needed and let me know if they still seem to not understand the concept.

Science News
This week we will begin working on Matter. We will focus on the three main types of matter (solid, liquid, and gas). We will also have heavy emphasis on the properties of matter and measuring matter.

Social Studies News
This week in social studies we will begin a study of Our Land and Resources. In this chapter we will learn a little more about landforms. We will talk about the affects of climate and weather on a place. And we will learn about resources (natural, renewable, and nonrenewable).

We Love Rocks

We have just finished our study of Earth Science. During the unit we studied rocks and minerals, the layers of the earth, earth's landforms, and weathering and erosion. We hate to see it come to an end because we have loved looking at rocks and minerals. During this unit we took "field trips" to see glaciers and we also went to the Grand Canyon!!
