March 18th

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to send another email with some updates. We have not been told officially what will happen in coming weeks. Although it looks like at this point we will be out until at least April 15th. The district is trying to develop a plan to move us to online learning. Please complete the survey at the link below.

I have gone ahead and set up a Teams Space for the students. Parents you can not access the Teams. Students have to be logged in to One View in order to get to the Teams. On the Teams students can keep in touch on the General Channel. The can ask content specific questions on each of the subject channels.

Current Assignments
Math
Freckle There is a Fractions assignment that covers our first decimal standard. Students should log in to Freckle and click on the Assignments button at the bottom of the screen. I will update with a our next standard next week. The title of the assignment is Fractions-At Your Level
Prodigy I have also added decimal questions to Prodigy. There is not an assignments tab, instead students will get questions as they complete battles. If students have forgotten their passwords for Prodigy, please have them email me for their log in info.
FSA Practice Packet Even thought we will more than likely not test at the end of the year the questions in the packet match our standards. This is what students will need to know for 5th grade. I am attaching the packet to this email. At the end of the packet is an answer key that students can use to check their work. Students can work through the packet at their own pace.

Science
Unit 4 Lesson 5: Which Resources are Found in Florida
Students should go to Blended Learning and find Ed Your Friend in Learning. Students know how to get access we use it once a week in the computer lab. I assigned the E-Book for students to read and the digital lesson.
Brain Pop
I had made a Moon Assignment, but then realized that we didn't finish Unit 4. I have instead made a Natural Resources Assignment of three movie clips for students to watch.  We will begin our Space unit next week.

Gifted Standards
Since students have a legal Educational Plan to receive Gifted Services I am also going to make assignments for them to  complete.
Genius Hour I know that students do not have their notebooks but they can continue to complete research on their chosen topics. If they have questions they can email me or Mrs. Chin.
Code.org Students can work on their coding. They should have their log in info in the front of their Agendas.

Students should not spend hours and hours each day working on the assignments listed above. Keep in mind that at school we include resources, recess and time for kids to just be kids. We build in discussions and partner work so that they can communicate with others. Make sure to include breaks and fun non school related activities. If your child is having difficulty understanding Corona Virus there is a movie clip on the virus on Brain Pop.

I hope everyone is doing okay. It feels very strange to not see my kids for what is now going on two weeks. I miss them so much. Please let me know if there is anything that I can do to help. If a student is having a difficult time with a question or an assignment they can take a screen shot and email me for help.

Take Care and Keep in Touch
❤️

March 17, 2020

Hi Everyone,

I hope everyone is healthy and remembering to wash their hands with soap and water. We are chartering new territory with the events of the COVID-19 virus. The district has extended our Spring Break another week and is currently making plans to have us begin virtual learning. Please be on the look out for emails from the Superintendent and Ms. Mattingly.

In the meantime I have set up virtual classroom for both classes. The classrooms can be found in the district application area called Teams. In this Team space I will up load information about assignments. Sorry parents you can only see the Teams space when your child logs in to One View. When students log in to One View they should do the following:

*Go to One View
*Click on waffle (white dots in the corner)
*Find and click on Teams
*Find your classes Team space
