Week of March 29th

Hi Everyone,

I hope that everyone had a restful and wonderful Spring Break!!

We will begin FSA testing this Friday with session of one of the math test. Please make sure that your child gets plenty of rest on Thursday night and again on Sunday night. Session one is Friday and session two will be on Monday 4/4. Please also make sure that students have a hearty breakfast on Friday and Monday Morning. Students will not have snack until testing is completed. Each session will be 80 minutes with a short stretch break after 40 minutes. We won't finish testing until approximately 10:30.
If your child is my homeroom please visit:

For more information about the test please visit:
Spring 2016 PBT FSA Grades 3 and 4 Mathematics Student Presentation. This is a power point presentation that will give you more information about test invalidation, and how to answer FSA items. We have reviewed the power point in class, but feel free to review the information with your child.

Needless to say our main focus in math this week will be reviewing different types of FSA items. The test will include any concepts that have been taught this year.

In science this week we will continue to work with our bean plants. They miraculously made through 10 days of no care and a number of us actually have beans growing on our plants. We are hoping to transfer them into the new JBE garden when it gets set up.

Have a GREAT Week,
Aesha

Week of March 14, 2016

Hi Everyone,

We will be going on our field trip to St. Augustine on Tuesday March 15th. I am asking that all students wear their JBE class shirt and comfortable walking shoes. Students may also want to bring a jacket or sweater for the morning coolness. Students may also bring a camera (with parent permission). Students need to bring a bag lunch and drink. Please pack lunches in a paper or plastic bag with the students name written on the outside of the bag. We will begin our day in St. Augustine by taking a trolley tour of the historic parts of the city. Next we will take a guided tour of Castillo de San Marco. We will then walk from the fort to the visitor center where we will have lunch. Our last activity of the day will be a scavenger hunt.

It is almost Spring Break!!! Please remember that there is no school on this Friday 3/18. We do not return to school until Tuesday 3/29. We hope that you have a wonderful vacation!!

When we return to school after spring break we will begin our FSA testing for math with the first session on Friday April 1st. Students will take the second session on Monday April 4th. The ELA test will not begin until April 21st. To help students get in a little more practice the 4th grade math teachers have put together a packet of practice sheets for students to work on during vacation. If students complete the entire packet they will earn a special prize, a pizza lunch party. Please see the letter and packet that will come home by the end of the week.

In math this week we will take our test on geometry. Students should have their study guide in their MOOSE.  The test is this Wednesday.  On Thursday we will review for the FSA. When we return after spring break we will continue with our review on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. For some at home review you can go to www.floridastudents.org. Click on the math button and then search by benchmark for a variety of activities that will help students practice for the test. Students can also work on i-Ready during vacation.

In science this week we will continue learning about food chains and food webs. We will also continue to take care of our bean plants.
Have a Wonderful Spring Break,
Aesha
