The field trip will take place on November 16th. Each class is allowed 10 chaperones. Chaperones must be approved on the DCPS Volunteer List. Chaperones will also be responsible for driving themselves to and from the field trip. Students must ride the bus to the field trip, but may be checked out by you after the activities are over. The cost of the field trip for students and chaperones is $14.  If you are interested in being a chaperone please use the pay online option to pay the fees and let your child's homeroom teacher with a note or an email.

This week in math, we will begin our module on geometry. This week we will learn the basics of points, lines, line segments, rays, acute angles, obtuse angles, right angles, parallel lines and perpendicular lines. Half the battle of geometry work is being familiar with the vocabulary. Please review these terms with your child as much as possible. Have them point these items out to you in their everyday lives. "The post of the fence intersects with the ground at a 90 degree angle. That means that the post is perpendicular to the ground."

This week in science, we will continue our work on sound energy. Students will complete a lab where they will see evidence that sound moves in waves and is made when their are vibrations in matter.
We will also begin learning how the kinetic energy of moving water and wind can be used to create electricity.
