Happy First Day of Spring Everyone,

I hope everyone had a wonderful Spring Break. We are now in the 4th Nine Weeks. In just nine weeks you will have a 5th grader!!

We will be going on our next field trip to the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens on Friday March 31st. For this field trip students will only pay the price of the bus ride. Through a partnership with DCPS students receive free admission to the zoo for field trips. The price for chaperones is $20.95. However if you have a Zoo Membership you can use your membership card at the gate. We are unlimited on chaperones for this trip, but please let either Mrs. Lomblo or myself know if you want to be a chaperone for this trip.

This week in math, we will begin unit 14, Geometric Figures. In this unit students will learn how to identify and classify geometric figures, estimate, classify and find angle measures, and solve problems involving the measures of unknown angles.

This week in science, we will continue our study of the moon. This week we will begin learning about moon phases. Students are bringing home a blank calendar. Over the course of the next month students are to record the moon phases. For this project students need to neatly shade in each circle to match the current phase of the moon. Students can use a gray crayon or their pencil. Since the time of the moon rise varies depending on the phase students can copy our classroom moon calendar or use this website, https://stardate.org/nightsky/moon Make sure to set the calendar to March 2023.
