Week of March 6, 2023

Happy Monday Everyone,

A big THANK YOU to everyone for participating in our Starfish Sprint fundraiser. Our school community crushed our goal of $60,000!!

The students will get to have a catered lunch in the butterfly garden and a walking field trip to Beaches Gymnastics.

We will be going on our next field trip to the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens on Friday March 31st. For this field trip students will only pay the price of the bus ride. Through a partnership with DCPS students receive free admission to the zoo for field trips. The price for chaperones is $20.95. However if you have a Zoo Membership you can use your membership card at the gate. We are unlimited on chaperones for this trip, but please let either Mrs. Lomblo or myself know if you want to be a chaperone for this trip.

Students will participate in Play Day this Friday. 4th grade will have their turn from 9:45-11:30. Students will need to bring a reusable water bottle. We would like for students to wear their class shirts, comfortable clothing, and tennis shoes. Students may also wear hats, sunglasses and sunscreen. In the past some of the activities have involved water, so students may want to bring an extra shirt and pair of socks to change into after our fun outside.

This week in math, we will complete our work on unit 13 on data. In this unit students learned examine and evaluate data on tables, lists, line plots and stem-and-leaf plots. Students also learned to determine the median, mode, and range of data sets. Students will take a quiz on unit 13 on this Thursday.

This week in science, we will complete our study of rotation and revolution of Earth. Students have learned that Earth rotates once on it's axis once every 24 hours. Earth's rotation causes the sun to appear to move across the sky during the day and the stars to appear to move across the night sky. Students have also learned that due to Earth's revolution around the sun we see different constellations at different times of the year. Students will take a quiz on these concepts this week.
