Week of 10/25

 

Happy Monday Everyone,

         Last week, we had an election for Student Council Class Representatives. Congratulations to all of the candidates, Abby, Darsh, Advik and Aniket for being brave enough to run and give a speech to the class. Our class representatives for this school year will be Abby and Advik. I know that they will represent us well. 

     This week we celebrate Red Ribbon Week. Please see below for the list of activities and events.

                                                            

Monday        Setting the Purpose “Pledge to Be Drug Free”    October 25, 2021

·       Wear “RED” today in honor of Say No to Drugs Celebration.

·       Homeroom teachers will briefly discuss Red Ribbon Week and why we celebrate.  They will review the activities for the week and give each student a Red Ribbon sticker.

·       Students will be encouraged to sign a Drug Free Pledge Banner during their lunch period to be displayed around the school.

·       5^th Grade students will begin decorating the fence with red solo cups spelling out “Just Say No”.

Tuesday           Sock it to Drugs                       October 26, 2021

·       Students are encouraged to wear crazy socks to display that they have made up their minds to “Sock It” to drugs.

·       Students will receive a sticker with the day’s theme.

Wednesday        Unity Against Bullying Day                October 27, 2021

·       Wear orange to indicate we are a unified body and we stand against drugs, alcohol and bullying!

·       Students will receive a glow in the dark silicone bracelet.

Thursday         STOMP out Drugs                           October 28, 2021

·       Wear camo attire on this day to show that we are “Stomping Out Drugs”.

·       Students will receive a sticker with the day’s theme.

Friday           Team Up Against Drugs                       October 29, 2021

·       Students will wear their favorite sports team attire.

·       Students will receive a sticker with the day’s theme.

     This Wednesday is our next Early Release Day. Students will be dismissed at :1;15. Please make sure your child knows their dismissal plan.

     This week in math we will move into our next standard, MAFS.4.OA.2.4. In this standard we will investigate factors and multiples. Students will be required to:

A. Find all of the factors pairs for numbers between 1-100.

B. Recognize that a whole number is a multiple of each of it's factors. 

C. Determine if a given whole number between 1-100 is a prime number or a composite number. 

*Facts Practice

     This week in science we will begin working on Unit 7, Energy and It's Uses. This week we will focus on the different forms of energy. We will work on kinetic energy, potential energy, and thermal energy. Next week we will learn about light energy and electrical energy.
