Week of May 23, 2022

Happy Last Week of School Everyone,

We have finally made it to the last week of school!! This week is always a mix of emotions for me. I am happy that we are getting ready for a well earned vacation, but I am always sad to see the students and families move on to the next grade and teacher. I have enjoyed working with you and your child this year. Watching them grow from the unsure 4th graders at the beginning of the year to the mature, responsible 5th graders that I see now is a wonderful feeling.
I would like to thank everyone for their support during the school year. It makes my job so much easier that you send me wonderful students that are eager and ready to learn. Please know that if I can ever be a resource in the future, please do not hesitate to send me an email.

5/23 Monday

5/25 Wednesday
End of Year Party

5/26 Thursday
Games and Movie Day

5/27 Friday
Last Day of 4th Grade
Noon Dismissal

Our schedule will be pretty light this week. On Tuesday, students will be able to use a our computers to play educational games for the Tech Hour they earned from the Starfish Sprint. Students will also present they Food Chain Rafts that they wrote in class. They will also have time to work on their Dream House Math Project.
On Wednesday, we will have our end of the year party. Our Room Parents have worked very hard to plan a Carnival. All of the 4th Grade classes will rotate thru different stations. At some of the stations students can even win prizes. One of the stations will involve water so students may want to bring a change of clothes. Our party will include lunch from the Mr. Taco food truck. If your child opted to not have a tacos for lunch, please make sure they bring their lunch box. They will also have the option of going through the line in the cafeteria.
On Thursday, students are invited to bring in a game. I would prefer board games so that they students can interact with each other instead of a screen, but electronics are okay. Students are not allowed to connect their devices to the schools network so they need to make sure they bring their game cartridges with them or download the game to their device.
Friday is our last day of school. Students are not receiving report cards on the last day but will get their awards and gifted progress reports. Students will be dismissed at 12:00. So please make sure your child knows how they are going home. There is no extended day on Friday.

If you are looking for activities to help your child prepare for 5th grade, please click on the link below. The link will take you to our JBE Summer Grade Level Activities Page. On the page you will links for ELA, Math and Science activities that will help your child review and prepare for 5th Grade. The PTO will also sponsor a summer reading activity. Students will also be able to access Freckle, Brain Pop, HMH, and Study Island for most of the summer. Students may want to hold on their journals as an aid for completing the summer activities. Their journals can also be helpful aids for next school year.

Have a wonderful summer vacation!! Sleep in, binge watch something great on tv, and have as much fun as you can.

Thanks for a FABULOUS school year,
Aesha Johnson
