Week of May 2nd

 

Happy Monday Everyone,

     I can't believe that we are actually in the last month of school!! This year has really flown by. As they say time flies when you are having fun!! Please look over the calendar for all of the events that we have coming up this month. 

     Students will take their next round of FSA Tests this week. On Tuesday students will take Session 1 of the ELA test. Session 2 will be on Wednesday. Each session of the test is 80 minutes and students will have a short stretch break after 40 minutes of testing. Please make sure students get plenty of rest and have a filling breakfast. We will not have snack until after testing is completed. 

     We finished our class books titled, Science Is...A Collection of A Collection of Acrostic Poems. It went in the mail over the weekend and we should have them back in a couple of weeks. The students worked very hard on their pages and should proud of their work. 

     We are putting the finishing touches on our The Best Part of Me display. If you are in the building for Muffins with Misses please come upstairs to view your child's work. Thank you to all of you for writing a poem about your child. I am so grateful for your participation in this project.

     This week in math, we will spend time reviewing each of the domains that we have covered in math this school year. We have now officially covered all of our 4th grade math standards and are in our final preparations for our FSA Math Test on May 9th and 10th. 

     As part of that review students' Freckle homework will look a little different this week. Students have spent time in class reviewing the results of our 3 PMA tests. We looked at each standard that was tested and students made note of the standards that they are still having trouble with based on the results of PMA 3. For homework this week students are to log into Freckle, but instead of clicking on their backpack they will click the practice button. Then click Math. On the next screen they will see the math domains. Please see the list below for the correlations between the standard code and the domains. They should click on the domain that they want to practice. Once in the domain area, scroll to the left to find the lesson that they want to practice. Students need to complete at two lessons of their choosing by Friday. Students have been given a sheet to record the name of the lesson and the final scores they earn.

     This week in science, we will continue our work on our life science unit. This week we will learn how animals reproduce and begin discussing heredity, instincts and learned behaviors. 

Monday: Math: Freckle: Complete at least two lessons based on your standards list. Record title of lesson and scores on the Freckle Record Sheet (due on Fri).

Science: HMH Unit 10 Lesson 2 and Unit 10 Lesson 3 Digital Lessons

Tuesday: No Homework

Wednesday: No Homework

Thursday: Science: Complete pages 70-74 in pink book.
