Week of October 17, 2022

Happy Tuesday Everyone,

I hope everyone enjoyed the three day weekend. This will be our first full week of the second quarter. Our next day off won't be until November 11th.
Now that 1st Quarter Grades are submitted, I want to clarify something about Grade Recovery. I do not input grade recovery points until the end of the quarter. Usually multiple students are completing grade recovery work for the same assignment and it is just easier to check all of the papers at one time rather than throughout the quarter.

Now that we are in the second quarter and have learned the rules, we are adding the rest of our conduct consequences. If a student receives a mark on the clipboard, they will have to spend some of the recess time in the Limited Play Area on the playground. The Limited Play Area will consists of students doing a lap on the track. Students can walk or run the lap or a combination of the two. After their lap is completed they can join their classmates in the play area.

This week in math, we will continue our work with multi-digit multiplication. We will multiply two digit numbers by one and two digit numbers. Students will also multiply three digit numbers by one, and two digit numbers. This week students will learn various strategies, the area model, the distributive property, and partial products. Students will have a quiz on these strategies on Friday.

This week in science, we will complete our work on physical and chemical changes. Since this unit is so short we will take a quiz instead of having a test. We will then move in to Unit 7 which covers energy. This week we will work on learning the basics of energy. We will discuss the two main types of energy, which are potential energy and kinetic energy.
